I appreciate the brave souls who, after reading my lunch post the other day, reached out to me and assured me that I am not the only one who does not send their kids to school with cranberry sauce and brie on cinnamon bread for lunch. (That sandwich concoction was suggested in September’s Parenting magazine.)
Today, I want to further highlight my brown bag skills by sharing the following:
1. I sent each kid to school today with a Lunchable. Thanks Oscar Meyer!
2. I overheard a conversation between Will, 9, and Sydney, 5, regarding the elementary school cafeteria. Big brother was trying to help his little sister, a new kindergartener, overcome her fear of buying lunch in the cafeteria.
“Sydney, their chicken nuggets are soooo good.”
“And, they have hot dogs.”
“And ketchup,” he continued.
“Ketchup,” he reiterated seriously.
Yes, that’s right, folks, the biggest selling points for the school cafeteria are chicken nuggets, hot dogs and ketchup. I’m feeling pretty good about myself today knowing that my school’s cafeteria missed the memo about cranberry sauce and brie sammies, too!
