Tales from Halloween Past, Part II

A couple weeks ago, I lamented over the fact that my baby boy, once dressed as a pumpkin, has grown up and wants nothing more than to be a frightening/bloody/ghoulish mess this Halloween.

Several of you were curious about my daughter Sydney’s Halloween experiences.

I’m pleased to report that at the age of 5 she is still enjoying sweet costumes!

This year she will be a fairy. A pink fairy no less!

Here’s how her costumes have gone over the years:

An 11-month-old Piglet

She was a chicken as a toddler

Almost 3, she went as her first princess.

Then (surprise!) she went as another princess!

Last year, at age 4, she rotated between bat princess (above), cheerleader, Pink Wonder Woman, and a bumblebee.

Now, if anyone has any advice on how to keep my sweet little girl from growing up and dressing like a “slutty nurse” or “sexy witch”, then I’m all ears!

  1. All of her costume choices are adorable!
Not sure what to tell ya about how to prevent the slutty nurse or sexy witch choice. You could exercise the most loved parental word and just tell her “NO!” When she asks why just say, “Because I said so.” She’ll love that one.

  2. Love, love the chicken! Little kid costumes are so great. I don’t think you can stop the evolution though…the slutty stuff is everywhere. You set the standard though…be firm and set boundaries about what she can wear. Those will be the years you have to remember you are not her friend, you are her mother. :-)

  3. Hhahahah, tell her “princesses and fairies always get more candy”, that should last you a few good years.
