It’s summertime and when I’m not busy sitting on my deck, watching the maple leaves gently blow in the breeze, I’m usually inside watching crappy reality TV like “Celebrity Wife Swap” with Barry Williams and Joe Piscopo. (The ironic part of watching that particular episode is that neither Barry nor Joe had wives. What the what?!)
I’m also enjoying my kids this summer. My kids, like most kids, never fail to annoy amuse me. Here are three riveting stories from our life this week:
1. My son turned 11 and requested a CAT PUFFLE cake from Disney’s Club Penguin for his birthday. I’m not kidding. And, no, I didn’t know what a CAT PUFFLE was either until I looked it up:
So I did what most moms do and drank wine. Then I baked two 9″ cakes and hacked them into pieces until I assembled a cat puffle cake:
For extra bonus points, I made the cat puffle cake dairy-free to accommodate a guest’s allergy. All I can say is Martha Stewart, watch out! And pass the wine.
2. My son lost his last baby tooth and asked if he could save it rather than leave it for the Tooth Fairy. I put it in a plastic bag and labeled it for posterity. Imagine my surprise when I noticed the bag on his dresser with a note to the Tooth Fairy:
Ha! “If you’re going to take this, please leave $20 or more.” Go for it, kid!
3. Do you know that song by Rihanna, “We found love”? The lyrics include the phrase, “We found love in a hopeless place” over and over. When it came on the radio, it piqued my daughter’s curiosity.
7yo daughter: What does she mean? “We found love in a hopeless place?”
Me: Um, well, that they fell in love in less than ideal conditions.
7yo daughter: Like the bank?
THE BANK! Awesome.
I hope you are enjoying your summer as much as I am. I’d love to hear if you fell in love at the bank, made a deal with the Tooth Fairy, or know what a Cat Puffle is. If your kids have done anything that amused you, please consider sharing your story via a guest post!

Nope, the tooth fairy did NOT come. Probably his demands are too rich for the Fairy to handle!

I bet your kids (and Lisa’s) are hilarious. You gals are so hilarious yourself that you have too much material of your own so you don’t need to steal theirs! 🙂

Pretty sure all kid-friendly places (laser tag, putt putt, etc.) break the banks these days! School will be back in session soon. Wish, wish.
