One of our favorite bedtime routines is a quick snuggle before lights out. We’re talking a one-minute snuggle. We’ve been doing this so long that even my big, cool 9-year-old doesn’t protest that it’s embarrassing.
I had the following conversations with my kids during a quick snuggle. These conversations made me laugh and scratch my head and pretty much solidified that I hope to snuggle with them until they go to college (because they are honest during this time! That is precious in parenting!)
First up was Sydney, age 6. We were talking about what her name would have been if she was a boy.
“If you were a boy, you would have been named Dean,” I told her.
“Dean?” she asked loudly. “Then I wouldn’t have any friends!”
My apologies to any friendless people named Dean out there.
Then there was Will, age 9. He was meowing during our snuggle.
“Why are you acting like a cat?” I asked.
“No, seriously, that is weird.”
“How do you have friends? Do you act like this at summer camp?”
“No, I save all my weirdness for home.”
Ooo. Lucky me!
What funny things have your kids said lately?
