Yesterday I hosted a play date at our house for Sydney, 5, and her 4-year-old friend.
“Hosting a play date today. BRING IT!” I tweeted confidently. After all, I’ve been hosting play dates since 2006 when my son turned 3. I could handle 2 little girls going to Kindergarten next Fall. Plus, the other girl’s mom was going to stick around and have a chat. We were evenly matched!
About 20 minutes into the play date, the other little girl comes up to her mom and says nonchalantly, “Mom, Sydney’s got her hair stuck.”
Thankfully, she’s not crying. She’s as cool as a cucumber. I patiently try to unwind her hair. Hmm. I try some more. That hair was stuck!
I resort to cutting the hair out with nail scissors. The other mom offers to help hold the car while I struggle with scissors and hair. She’s the one who points out this sticker on the bottom of the car:
Can you read it? Something about adult Supervision required, hair entanglement, blah, blah, blah…Well, NOW I know!
Episodes like this one are exactly why I call myself the Experienced Bad Mom!
