The other day my ten-year-old son went into the bathroom he shares with his sister and shut the door. I presume he had to take care of some business. Moments later, his little sister, age 7, came looking for him. She noticed the closed door, knocked on it, and sang, “Do you want to build a snowman?”
And that’s when I knew. She had watched Disney’s Frozen way too many times.
But it wasn’t just her. Our whole family has watched Frozen way too many times, ever since it was released on DVD last week.
Here, from personal experience, are the 10 Signs You’ve Watched Frozen Too Many Times:
1. You knock on every closed door and sing, “Do you want to build a snowman?”
2. You wave your hands around dramatically as if ice, snowflakes, snow, sleet and other magic stuff will shoot out.
3. Your next car might be a sled with a cup holder and you are thinking about getting a reindeer as the family pet.
4. You don’t need a coat because the cold never bothered you anyway.
5. You greet everyone by saying: “Hi! I’m Olaf and I like warm hugs.”
6. Rocks are now treasured. They might morph into friendly trolls who are Love Experts.
7. When you set the table for dinner, you always sings, “Who knew we owned eight thousand salad plates?”
8. You say prayers that the Disney Store can make enough Elsa costumes so that everyone who wants one can get one.
9. At least once a day you say, “Woo hoo! Big summer blowout!”
10. You instantly dislike anyone named “Hans”.
Have you and your family watched Frozen too many times? How can you tell?
So happy to have you stop by! If you liked this Frozen post, you should read about the time I stood in line nearly 3 hours so my daughter could meet Elsa and Anna at Disneyworld. If you’re a big Disney fan, you might also enjoy the CRAZY thing that happened to us during a stay at Boardwalk Resort. I’d also love to have you follow me on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, or Instagram!

I have boys so I thought I was safe from this, but my four year old loves Frozen. You should hear his cover of Let It Go. His favorite thing is to go around saying, “The cold never bothered me anyway,” with as much drama and big gestures as possible.

Omg! My two year old son loves frozen also! He sings let it go all the time but also when elsa tells ana to go away he sings “okayyy byeee…” it’s so cute (and annoying, lol).
Justin Knight says
As if we needed 10 signs! Seriously, though, it has been showing on a loop here too. I know we’ve seen it too many times because every time someone enters/exits a room someone sings “Let it go!” at the top of their lungs!

I’m even wandering around the house making sweeping hand gestures and belting out “Let it go!” Thanks for your shares and pins, Justin!

We’ve had so much snow here in MD this winter – highly unusual – that we walk around the house singing “Let it Snow” instead of let it go, and waving our arms dramatically. We do have an Elsa dress (thanks much to Grammy who was first in line at Disney the day they went on sale), but I wish we had an Anna. Even the older brother has seen the movie too much when he refers to himself as “a Christophe” rather than “a Hans”.
Katy @ Experienced Bad Mom says
It’s just so infectious, isn’t it? I kinda love Grandma. She’s a shopping stud. You could probably sell that Elsa costume and pay for your children’s college education if you wanted right now!

My husband bought it last week and it is still shrink wrapped! We just haven’t had the chance to watch it yet. I know once we open it, we’ll probably watch it all weekend. The soundtrack is on my kids’ lullaby album!

Thanks for visiting! And for confirming that yes, indeed, we are all doing things subconsciously due to too much Frozen watching. I catch myself singing instead of speaking now. “I guess you didn’t know. Arandale’s in deep, deep, deep, deep, snow!”
Katie says
None of us have seen the movie yet but my daughter has been singing the songs so much that I am not sure that I want to……
Katy says
Katie, it’s gooooood. I mean, not life-changing, earth shattering good. But it’s up there with Tangled and Beauty and the Beast!
Kristyn Grewell says
It’s not just little kids watching it over and over. My daughter and her sorority sisters watch Frozen every night. When she comes home, she’s constantly quoting and singing.

This isn’t a bad idea “Your next car might be a sled with a cup holder and you are thinking about getting a reindeer as the family pet.” Winter is never going to end where I live it seems. In fact the snow is falling outside as I type this comment. Stopping by from SITS share link up.

You know its really bad when your three year old says,”Do me a favor and grab my butt.” Funny when Olaf says it, but out of context it can throw you for a loop. LOL. She knows way too many lines.

Ha ha! I bet most of the people in her crowd totally get the reference, tho!

We’ve only seen it twice, but I’m terrified we’re going to find out what “snow does in summer.” It just won’t stop snowing here in Pittsburgh. We’re singing Olaf’s “In Summer” song every day!

My son loves this movie. In fact he has always loved princess movies. Disney just seems to work harder on them! But who loves Frozen even more? My sister in law (who lives with us). I swear everytime she is alone with the remote Frozen comes on. But I’m about as bad with You’ve Got Mail. So who am I to complain?

My son is obsessed with Frozen as well. The other day he tripped going up the stairs to bed. When I entered his room, I sang (to the very familiar tune), “How’s your toe? How’s your toe? Does it hurt you any mor-or-ore?”

I just recently discovered your blog through Blogher. Love your work, especially this fun post. How, may I ask, did you get the adorable gifs uploaded to Blogher? I recently tried to upload some gifs to one of my posts and I couldn’t get it to work. Any suggestions you might have would be great. Thanks so much! Shana

I teach preschool and the first thing the kids say when they walk into the classroom in the morning is, “Can we have the Frozen songs?” During free play, the children assign roles to each other; we have Anna’s “falling down” all over the place and Elsa’s trying to fix their little sister’s frozen hearts. I knew I had been a little too immersed in the Frozen culture when I joked after nap time that, “The sun’s awake, so we’re awake!” That was a hit.
Katy says
What a great story! Thanks for sharing!

I am 18 years old, youngest in my family.. and i am a frozen addict. Ive seen it at least 15 times. i have the soundtrack, i know every word to every song… Its a problem 😉
The other day it rained and i walked out in the rain with my arms outstretched and yelled “THE RAIN NEVER BOTHERED ME ANYWAY!!”
Thats what my mom has to deal with 😉
MaineMommie says
They are all funny except number 10. I have a son named Hans. We were so excited at the beginning of the movie and then I realized where it was headed and I was like “No, no, no, don’t let him be the bad guy!!!”
Katy says
Aw, too funny! The whole dislike-anyone-named-Hans thing really only applies to *princes* named Hans. Or if your name is Anna. 🙂
Caren says
We watched several times ourselves. Every one around us has too! On of my daughter’s classmates (in 5th grade) raised his hand and asked if she wanted to build a snowman! Let’s just say she was not very amused but they got a smile out of her when she was in a bad mood.
Jen says
Yes! This is one of your funniest posts, ever!! Oh and the one about Elsa and Anna singing Christmas carols is equally hilarious!

This is Super CUTE. We have had our share of watching Frozen, and from time to time they watch it again (and again…and again). We were pretty lucky though that they didn’t become too fascinated with it 🙂 I will say, my favorite line from that move is from Olaf “Watch out for my butt” I use that ALL THE TIME when my girls get to close to me… it has become a big joke in our house now. 🙂

“Watch out for my butt” – that’s a good one! I’m partial to “whoo hoo!” in a sing-song voice with a trace of a horrible Scandinavian accent. 🙂
