3 Things I Learned From My Kids

April 11, 2014 By Katy 12 Comments

In lieu of my weekly round-up of funny stuff, I am sharing the 3 Things I Learned From My Kids This Week.

Trust me. What I learned is just as silly as the crazy tweets and cartoons I’ve been sharing on Fridays!

The first Thing I Learned This Week is that these Barbies are NOT in a compromising position.

BarbiesandKen“They are sleeping on top of each other!” my seven-year-old declared cheerfully when I stood in horror, chin dropping to the floor, wondering what in the world she was doing with them. Or, as my husband proclaimed, “Way to go, Ken!”

The second Thing I Learned This Week is that I have a mustache. My son was sitting next to me in the car. “Mom, did you know you have a mustache?” he asked. Actually, I didn’t. Sure, I’m in my 40s and the hair on my upper lip may have gotten a tad thicker since I was in my 30s. But because I’m blonde, I never thought much of it.

Until now.

I’m calling the waxing people stat. Or should I buy Nads? Maybe I’ll wait til my 10-year-old sprouts his own upper lip hair and we can shave together.

The third Thing I Learned This Week from my kids is that my seven-year-old is a master game inventor. She designed a board game where there’s not a winner, rather there’s a “winer”. I’m not sure if that involves red or white wine, but I’ll play no matter what!

Now it’s your turn. Did you learn anything this week?

Haha! Kids are too funny sometimes. I learned my newly turned teenager is growing a mustache. Where did the time go? I wonder how long he can get away without shaving.

Oh my goodness, Barbies and where I found them and what they were doing when my girls were little was DISTURBING at best, I swear the hubby was doing it on purpose to freak me out! The scary thing was that I never saw them playing with them!!!! Upper hair lip, kids say the weirdest things….. Mine are 16 and 11 and would be walking home if they even 😉 kidding I think…… As for the wine game, I and my friends are IN!!!!!!

Haha! Your husband sounds look a hoot! And I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks the wine games sounds GREAT! Thanks for coming by.

Lol- sometimes you just have to shake your head and laugh: which is exactly what I did as I read this post. Kids have a way of being terrifyingly honest, innocent, wise, and unintentionally hilarious all at once. Bravo to you for capturing that! Happy weekend. 🙂

Why do kids always come up with the mustache remark? You almost can’t say anything that will send a woman running to a mirror faster.

He got me where I’m insecure, too – how could he have known that in the last year I was starting to wonder if I was little furrier than I should be up there?!

Just wait for puberty, kid! 🙂

My 7 year old has those Barbies too! Sometimes I have to just shake my head at the things that come out of her mouth … it looks like you have to do that some too! Thanks for sharing what you have learned this week! 🙂

I am not a mom but I love reading mom blogs. And I will be back. This post had me laughing from the minute I saw the Barbies. LOL. That’s how I learned about ‘the birds and the bees-‘ through my barbies!
