5 Thoughts I Have Brushing My Daughter’s Hair

February 10, 2016 By Katy 10 Comments

While brushing my daughter’s hair, I am flooded with emotions. I’m delighted that she was blessed with a crown of golden, wavy hair. I’m dismayed that I’m the one who has to manage and maintain it until she’s older. It’s not easy and there are often tears and harsh words–from both of us! That’s why I’m pleased that the folks at SoCozy offered to help. They sent me some of their salon products made especially for kids in hopes that my daughter’s hair care could be made easier.

But first, let’s go back to the beginning, before SoCozy appeared. Here are the usual 5 Thoughts I Have Brushing My Daughter’s Hair:Here are 5 Thoughts I Have Brushing My Daughter's Hair. Moms, can you relate?

  1. Are there animals or birds living in there?
  2. Why did I ever let her grow it out?
  3. I’m going to chop it all off. I am.
  4. If she would Just. Stop. Moving. Her. Head.
  5. I’m not sure what’s more damaged: her hair or this mother-daughter relationship.

Can you relate?

Thus, I was more than ready to try SoCozy’s line of Cinch haircare products: 2 in 1 Shampoo + Bodywash, 3 in 1 Shampoo + Conditioner +Bodywash, Super Hydrating Conditioner, and Detangler + Leave-in Conditioner. The SoCozy Cinch! line of Salon-quality hair care products.

There’s even a Detangler Brush for wet or dry hair. Here's the SoCozy Detangler Brush, which makes brushing my daughter's hair a breeze.

A Little Bit About SoCozy

Cozy Friedman (yes, that’s her real name) started her salons designed for kids, Cozy Cuts for Kids, in 1994. Later she started SoCozy Professional Haircare for Children. There’s no parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic color, propylene glycol, formaldehyde, gluten, wheat, or nuts in their formulas. Whew, that’s a lot of yucky stuff they left out!

What We Thought About SoCozy

In sum, we loved it! The products are lightly scented with no obnoxious colors. Best part of all? They worked for us. Take a look at these before and after photos using the Detangler + Leave-In Conditioner followed by the Detangler Brush:Before and after using the SoCozy Detangler Brush

I thought I had to tug a little bit while brushing my daughter’s hair, but she didn’t mention it nor did she cry or curse me out. Woo hoo!

And I know you’re wondering if the 2 in 1 and 3 in 1 products really worked. Maybe like me you’re flashing back to those shampoo and conditioner combos in the 80s that were terrible. Well, the SoCozy combo products worked well, whether we were washing her hair or her body. I do like using separate conditioner, though, and theirs is light enough to use in addition to the 2 in 1 and 3 in 1 products.

Now it’s time to tell me your hairraising stories. What kind of hair were you and your kids blessed with? Do you love it or hate it? Have you ever tried SoCozy? I’d love to hear!

SoCozy gave us their products for free in hopes we would try, like it, and tell our friends if we did. Because we liked the products, we’re sharing our opinion with you.

How very sad it is that this product was around when my girl was younger and I DIDN’T know about it! Oh the nightmares we could have prevented. My particularly special memory was the time my tucked in and asleep daughter shouted out in the middle of the night. I charged into her room to find her sitting up in bed with her brush entangled in her hair. Rolled up to the point of no return. Needless to say – neither of us got much sleep that night. My hairdresser, when told of this delight, shared with me that she had a client who came into the salon with a towel wrapped over her brush trapped head …

My daughter starts crying as soon as I say, “Go get the comb.” I don’t know how it gets so tangled, but there is major trauma on both of our parts when I try to smooth it out!

The underside of my daughter’s hair by her neck is the worst. And I, too, am always wondering how’d it get so bad!??! And she looks at my like I’m the devil for trying to smooth it out.

Yup, that’s me. Evil Devil Mom!

Just today my daughter asked me to brush her hair while I had one foot out the door. Sigh! I have to get mentally prepared for it, not when I’m running late.

I’d like to use this on ME! My hair is WAY too long these days- due to serious neglect. (Don’t even bring up the greys) My daughter could use these products too, with swimming almost every day- she needs it!

Thanks for the nod to my hairraising stories line. 😉

My daughter took swimming lessons for only 6 weeks and I was ready to cut all her hair off after just that! I can’t imagine your daughter’s locks. God bless her!

I’ll have to check this out. My daughter has long hair and it ALWAYS tangles. Drives me crazy to brush it. Then she’s all, “OW! You’re HURTING me!”

It’s a double-edged sword for sure! Everyone wants long hair, but no one wants to brush it. 🙂
