I’m Katy, a native Californian who finds herself plunked in the Midwest. I’ve lived in California, Arizona, Maryland, North Carolina, Australia and Canada.
In writing this blog, my primary goal is to entertain you with funny stuff! My secondary goal is to share with you: the good, the bad, and the serious. As parents, it’s important to both laugh and feel connected through shared experiences.
I’m married to my high school sweetheart and together we have two kids: Will, born in 2003, and Sydney, born in 2006.
I have degrees in English and Early Childhood Education, which makes this blog ironic. That’s right, I’m using my finely honed writing skills on a personal blog about what a bad parent I am! Some days I work in research at a major university. Other days I’m home with the kids. Some nights you’ll find me crafting articles as a freelance writer. I think of myself as a WOHM-SAHM-WAHM.
You can read how I became the Experienced Bad Mom here. I’m trying my best in a world where the media, society, and neighborhood make me feel like a bad mom. Did I breastfeed long enough? Make organic homemade baby food? Raise children who are fluent in Swahili and on the honor roll? It’s never good enough, so I might as well laugh about it!
I celebrate my imperfections and share my exploits here.
Thanks for reading. I welcome you to subscribe to Experienced Bad Mom by Email or follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or Instagram.
