What is the Liebster Award, you ask? The Liebster Award is a fun way to encourage and show the love to bloggers who have less than 200 followers. As Kerry wrote, it’s basically a “Hey, that’s a sweet little blog you’ve got there. Here’s an award!”
Instead of a statuette, the Liebster Award comes with rules one must follow before passing the blog love along.
The Rules:
- List 5 facts about yourself
- Answer the 5 questions given to you.
- Create 5 new questions for the bloggers you nominate for the award.
- Choose 5 worthy bloggers to nominate (remember, # of followers must be considered).
- Go to each blogger’s page and let them know about the award.
- Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog
The Answers:
1. List 5 facts about yourself.
- I’m tall, nearly 5’11”
- I’ve been to all 50 states, mostly courtesy of a 1976 Sportscoach
- I’m the middle of 3 girls
- I graduated from Duke
- My favorite musician is Bryan Adams and I’m not embarrassed about that
2. Answer the 5 questions given to you. Here are Kerry’s questions in bold and my answers.
- Why do you blog? It’s a hobby that I enjoy and keeps me sane. Some people do crafts, bake, or scrapbook. I create with words.
- What is the best tip you’ve ever received from another mom about motherhood? Just throw out the underpants when someone has pooped in them.
- Does social media ever make you blue? Why, yes. I go through love-hate cycles with it. Sometimes I wonder why nobody will play with me on Twitter and especially Facebook.
- How do you unwind from the chaos of motherhood, work, life? I do Zumba (stop laughing), read, and write this blog.
- What are you reading right now … is there a particular book you want to recommend? I just finished Maisie Dobbs. Considering it was published the year my 9-year-old was born, that’s about right for finally reading it!

- What’s your favorite post?
- Who makes you smile?
- Have you ever cried when you wrote a post?
- Anything you regret posting on your blog?

4. Choose 5 worthy bloggers to nominate.
- Not Winning Mom of the Year. She makes me laugh and knows how to poke fun at her supposed mom fails! I bet she also loves that I’m giving her this award while she’s 9 months preggers.
- Lou Lou Loves. She could have way more followers than 200, but I don’t know. She’s an Aussie mum living in a Swedish world and has a fabulous sense of humor.
- The Mommy Psychologist. This blogger is educated AND opinionated. Makes for good reading and lively comments.
- Mamacita Spins the Globe. Raina teaches her kids all about the world and posts their adorable pictures along the way. (She nominated me for a Versatile Blogger award way back in the spring and I was too idiotic to appreciate it and pass it along!)
- Momedy. This mom of 5 shares a lighthearted look at motherhood that is both sweet and fun.

Yay…Congrats!! Love the advice about the underpants… it sooo pertains figuratively and literally haha =P I haven’t even started my blog yet =( I see it in my head I have tons of posts but I’m just trying to get everything just so and it’s taking me much longer than I imagined it would, but I love your blog and maybe some day I will have a Liebster of my own >.<… Hugs
