We’re back from Disney and we had a great time. The highest of highs and lowest of lows, as all parents of small children who traipse through amusement parks can relate.
I do feel I owe an apology to the Disney Princesses. Once upon a time, before I had a daughter, the princesses annoyed me. I did not feel they were good role models for girls or women.
But there is something pure and sweet about the adoration that my 3-year-old daughter had for the princesses. It is very similar to the way my now 6-year-old son used to worship super heroes and dump trucks when he was 3.
So I apologize to you, Disney Princesses, for making you out to be baddies in our society. I think little girls can like you and still grow up to be fine, upstanding women!
