I saw a commercial over the weekend that sent a message–loud and clear–that you are a bad mom if you serve a certain brand of fish sticks.
It’s a commercial for Van de Kamp’s fish sticks. A little girl, maybe 3 or 4, is served fish sticks by her mother. The little girl notices somehow that the fish sticks are made with minced fish and so she gives her mother a guilt trip for serving them. The mother changes her errant ways and serves her Van de Kamp’s fish sticks that aren’t made with minced fish.
Whatever!
I’m lucky if my kids will even eat fish sticks at all. At least they like tuna, too. So if they get their omega-3s from minced fish sticks and tuna so be it! I for one am NOT running out for Van de Kamp fish sticks. And I guess that makes me a bad mom, at least according to the Van de Kamp’s ad agency.
Update: For those of you interested in checking out the commercial, check out www.vandekamps.com and click on “View Now!” on the left where it says Check Out Our Latest Commercial!
