Old Man Winter’s on his way. That means one thing for my family.
In other words, I’m ready to plan my next trip to Disney World! That’s why I’m excited today to review Gogobot, a social travel website that allows you to connect with your friends to get their advice on where to visit, what to eat, and where to stay when you travel.
Where to stay
You can find 500+ hotels listed under Orlando & Walt Disney World hotels on Gogobot. Since I’ve stayed on Disney property before and love it, I knew that I only wanted to consider Disney properties, not Orlando per se. Thus, to narrow down my choices, I entered “Walt Disney World Resort” into Gogobot’s search engine.
I’ve stayed at the Polynesian and Grand Floridian before, but not the Contemporary Resort. This is the hotel right next to Magic Kingdom and through which the monorail runs. It also hosts a Chef Mickey character meal that I’ve heard is awesome.
If my friends were on Gogobot, I could follow them and see their reviews of the Contemporary Resort. Being a newbie, I still had plenty of real-life reviews to peruse in order to answer my Contemporary Resort questions: Is it great staying next door to Magic Kingdom? Can we walk to Magic Kingdom? What are my dining options in the hotel? Is the monorail barreling through the hotel every 15 minutes a plus or a minus?
The reviews posted from real people answered most of my questions immediately: the monorail never gets old, you can walk to Magic Kingdom, the hotel is convenient, and more! I clicked “Add to trip”on Gogobot and started building my next Disney World trip.
What to eat
The hotel’s description listed that it had “2 restaurants and a bar and lounge”, but I wanted to know exactly what they were.
Clicking on “Restaurants” from the top of the Contemporary Resort page led me to reviews of 61 Walt Disney World restaurants. I went back and scrolled the Contemporary Resort page until I spied “Restaurants Near Disney’s Contemporary Resort”. However, that was restaurants near, but not in, Contemporary Resort. I typed in “Contemporary Resort restaurants” in the search box and got no results. Hmm. Definitely an area of improvement for Gogobot, but maybe I was too specific.
I finally found the Chef Mickey character meal by searching for “Chef Mickey”. It was listed under “Bay Lake Restaurants”. As someone who’s visited Disney 10+ times, even I didn’t know to look for it as a “Bay Lake Restaurant.” But the reviews reassured me that Chef Mickey’s is well worth it — and that I should make a reservation! I added it to my trip.
What to do
By now I was enjoying the “Add to Trip” feature. I quickly and easily added Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios.
So there it is. With Gogobot, I created a fun trip to Disney World where I hope to stay at the Contemporary Resort, dine at Chef Mickey’s, and visit all the theme parks. I can only imagine as more people, especially my friends, use Gogobot that I’ll enjoying reading their opinions and seeing their pictures. There’s so many destinations to explore, too.

Gogobot sounds cool. I have never stayed at the Poly but want to! We did eat at Chef Mickey’s and it is pretty decent food AND you get to meet all the characters and get pics and autographs…WAY better than waiting in hot lines in the parks!

Thanks for introducing me to Gogobot. It sounds very useful, as was your honest review of Gogobots search features in regards to restaurants near the Contemporay Resort.
