Here’s some follow-up to a couple things I’ve been talking about this week.
First, I saw this cartoon and thought it was appropriate after Tuesday’s Everyday Mathematics post:
Ha!
And then there’s this YouTube clip from the movie Tommy Boy. On Monday on my Facebook page, I told everyone that I got whacked in the face with a pool noodle while playing with my 6yo. I kept asking her, “Is there a red mark? What about here? Or here?” Suddenly I realized I sounded like Tommy Boy!
Enjoy your Friday and the weekend everyone!

We do lamination here for the teacher ed students. It costs 25c a foot. I am very saddened by how many of these future teachers ask me how much 7 feet of lamination costs…Maybe I will print this cartoon out and put it next to the cash register. And then pray that these girls don’t teach at my kids’ school!!

That’s not even a word problem – it’s just basic multiplication! Did they learn their math through the Everyday Mathematics curriculum?!?

I saw the cartoon and busted out laughing and my son thought I was crazy. I guess I may be a little. Stopping by for a weekend visit. Hope you’re having a great weekend!

I’m always amazed with the simple math stuff people don’t get…like counting back change. It’s not a difficult thing to master, yet often you’ll find someone completely flustered trying to figure it out if the register doesn’t tell them how much the change should be.
