I’m Up All Night to Get Lucky

Have you heard Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” on the radio this summer? It seems to be a big hit and features a vocalist singing “I’m up all night to get lucky” over and over.

On Friday night, “Get Lucky” was playing in the restaurant in which my family was eating.

“Why is this guy always singing about getting lucky?” my six-year-old declares.

My husband and I freeze. Our forkfuls of food are suspended mid-air on the way to our mouths.

Stay cool, I think.

“And why is he always singing about getting lucky AT NIGHT?” she wonders aloud.

I. can’t. look. at. my. husband. We are on the verge of losing it.

“I mean,” continues our sweet, innocent six-year-old, “nobody’s going to get lucky at night unless you see a shooting star or something.”

EXACTLY! 100% TRUE!

Oh this made me shoot coffee out of my nose! I LOVE the things kids say and this has to be at the top of the awesome list. And I know the exact reason you couldn’t look at your husband…we go through the same thing about 5 times a week with our 5 year old.

That’s great! Don’t you love it when kids ask awkward questions but then answer them themselves? Yes, run with it, that’s exactly what that song means honey!

LOL, that would make you freeze wouldn’t it? I think it’s safe to say YOU got lucky by not having to answer.

Oh that’s awesome! I love love love the innocence of kids and the way they see the world. I mean, really, seeing a shooting star IS lucky! Maybe even luckier than some of the lucky the song was talking about, ha!
