We were in church last Sunday, closing out the hour-long service with a rockin’ Presbyterian hymn.
It was “God of Grace and God of Glory”, #420 in the Blue Hymnal.
My husband smiled as he leaned over and pointed to the name of the hymn’s author, John Hughes, born in 1907.
Ha! Memories of The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, and Sixteen Candles flooded my brain.
Will, 9, was standing in between us.
“Tee hee!” he giggled.
“What’s so funny?” I whispered in his ear.
“John HUGGIES. Get it?” he said, pointing at the name John Hughes. “Huggies! Tee hee!”
Oh, dear Lord, this boy needs to go back to school ASAP and start reading again…
