Today I’m sharing little ways to make extra cash. I say little because you’re not going to become a millionaire through them. But, they are relatively easy and convenient, so why not try them?
(It’s like that yogilates class that’s offered down the hall from my office during my lunch hour for only $5. How can I NOT take that class, right?)
If you do click on the links I’m sharing, sign up, and in some cases possibly make a purchase, then I will get a bonus. Not a “I’m going to retire in luxury” sort of bonus, but like $5. Maybe. Only if you actually buy or redeem stuff, 30 days goes by, the full moon appears, ya da ya da ya da. You get the picture.
Swagbucks
Through Swagbucks I accumulate points and redeem them for egift cards. I almost always use my points towards Amazon egift cards. For reference, you need 500 points to earn a $5 gift card.
I’m not going to lie. You won’t earn a ton unless you spend a ton of time on there. In a typical day, I earn 10 points in about 10 minutes. I’ll take the online poll, watch the Daily Crave, enter a Swagcode off Twitter, and let some videos run in the background on my desktop while I do other work.
My favorite tip is to look for this picture under Popular videos:
Click, let the video run for 30 seconds, and then you get 2 points. The closer we get to Christmas, the more advertisers use this video tool. I can remember some days running it 20 times for 40 points quick and easy! But some days it’s not there at all.
Lots of people have written helpful posts about earning Swagbucks faster than I do. Just Google it.
Ebates
If you enjoy online shopping, Ebates is a quick and easy way to earn a percentage (usually 2-6%) of your purchase back. After signing up for your account, simply start your online shopping by visiting Ebates first.
- From the Ebates website, find and click through to your store.
- You’ll see a confirmation screen letting you know that you’re earning cash back.
- Complete your purchase as usual.
- Every three months, if you’ve accumulate enough, they’ll credit your PayPal account or send you a check.
I usually earn around $20/year so, again, not tons. But it’s VERY easy and not labor-intensive. Here’s my super duper referral button to click on and get started:
Ibotta
Ibotta is a Smartphone app that gives rebates for items you buy at different stores. Mostly I use it after shopping at Target and Walmart.
To make extra money through Ibotta, check your store’s section on the app to see what rebates are being offered. I earn 25 cents to $1 for items like cat food or coffee, usually if it’s a certain brand. You do have to scan the QR code on your receipt as well as the UPC code on your items, but it’s worth the couple minutes I do this weekly to earn about $40/year. I usually convert my Ibotta money into Amazon egift cards.
Right now you can get a $10 welcome bonus for signing up, too.
Happy saving! What are your favorite apps or websites for earning, or saving, some moolah? Let us know in the comments and I might give them a try. I’m always looking for easier ways to earn a little something-something than foraging for pennies I find on the floor.
And, thanks to anyone who signs up through my links for these little ways to make extra cash!

I use Ebates too, but yeah, who actually makes thousands of dollars? I guess if they spend a ton around the holidays or something – or they refer a lot of people, but STILL. At any rate – it’s nice to get money back on so many of the things I buy online, so it’s worth doing!
Thanks for all these ideas.

Yup, I agree! Ebates is easy enough. Glad you could relate to my comment about those people making thousands of dollars. That’s not me. 🙂

If you shop online, then Ebates is soooo easy. Lately, I’ve been liking how fast the money adds up in Ibotta. I earn back $1-$2 a week. Not too shabby especially when I withdraw a $20 Amazon gift card for myself!

I use a lot of these because I love to earn money when I shop. Ebates is a huge favorite. I’ve received so much back from them, I should probably be embarrassed for how much I shop. But eh!

If you are one of the Ebaters making 100k cash back, please share your secrets. Because otherwise I’m thinking, yes, you spent 1 billion dollars to make so much back. 🙂

I’m a member of Swagbucks but keep forgetting to go there to earn points. Wouldn’t hurt for me to keep them in mind to score some rewards.
Katy says
It works for me because I can have it running at work (shhh!!) since I’m sitting at the computer anyway.

I always forget to use my Ebates!!! WHHHHHYYYY!?!? I know they’re good for the mula. I need to check out Ibotta. I think I may have a Swagbucks account, I should check on that.
Thanks for sharing with us!
