The Funny Business of Back to School

August 12, 2015 By Katy 9 Comments

As the cast of Grease 2 so eloquently sang once upon a time, we gotta go back to school.

(Whoa, whoa, I gotta go… back to school again! )

Whether your kids return to school in July (seems early to me!) or after Labor Day (hello, Michigan!) or somewhere in between (probably most of you), you gotta laugh about the Back to School season or you won’t survive.

Thus, below I’ve curated the best Back to School funnies I could find. Have a laugh!

If you complain one more time about having to go back to school, I'm going to make you come to work with me.

Is it just me or did Mom seem a little too happy about the first day of school?

Sending the kids back-to-school makes me want to cry tears of joy

Parents call it Back to School, Teachers call it I need another drink! For more Back to School funnies, check out last year’s collection of cartoons.

When do your kids go back to school? Are you done with your back to school shopping? If your kids are grown, do you miss back to school or not? How many times have you seen Grease 2 (c’mon, be honest!)?

I’ve got my son returning to college on Tuesday and my daughter yet to book her flight. He starts before Labor Day and she starts after. It is with disbelief (and horror) that I read about school starting for some in July and early August. That is just so early. Here in BC we’re like you. School goes back in after Labor Day. Folks squeeze out their last holidays on that weekend. Ferry lineups are long and border crossings impossible.
As for me – I remember only wearing new clothes on the first day of school. Never mind that they were always Fall clothes and the temperature was hovering above 80. Can’t imagine what that must be like for the July returners!

I remember new clothes, too. And that’s about it. Sometimes when I stress that I’m not documenting the first day of my kids’ new school year properly (you know, fancy Pin-worthy chalkboard sign that screams ‘Billy’s 1st day of kindergarten 2015!’) I think about how my mom is NOT cuddling my own first day of school pictures anywhere or any how, and she’s out there enjoying her life. Makes me feel better.

I work part-time and enjoy my workplace and then hanging with my kids part of the week. It’s a perfect combination of both time away from them and time with them. When they go back to school, I miss them!

We don’t go back until after Labor Day ourselves…which seems late compared to everyone else. I feel like friends in NC and AZ went back in late July. How is THAT possible?!
