This Week’s To Do List

October 4, 2012 By Katy 14 Comments

1. Teach kindergartener how to tie her shoes.

2. Buy book about teaching kindergartener how to tie shoes.

3. Do not roll eyes when other parents realize I haven’t taught my kindergartener how to tie her shoes and they say stuff like, “Simeon has tied her shoes since she was 3 years old. She taught herself in 30 minutes. She’s just so bright.”

4. Make time for the sex talk with 9-year-old son.

5. Get book to use for the sex talk with 9-year-old.

6. Don’t have the sex talk with 9-year-old. Make husband give the sex talk to 9-year-old son.

7. Just sign the permission slip and let the school gjve the sex talk to the 9-year-old.

8. Don’t feel bad when other parents say they’ve already had the sex talk with their 9-year-olds.

9. Don’t let anybody know that you haven’t taught kindergartener how to tie her shoes and that you haven’t had the sex talk with 9-year-old.

10. Oh, crap. Just rip up To Do list.

My 8 year old still can’t tie his shoes. Everything is velcro, so I justify that it’s okay. Someday…

Yeah, my husband is doing the sex talk with the boys. I get my daughter.

I guess tie shoes are popular in my daughter’s kindergarten. Quick, let me buy some super-sparkly velcro shoes and squash the tie shoes’ popularity! Yea, I’ll be definitely giving her “the talk” when it comes time!

Awesome! My list always looks a little like that, and I cross stuff off undone with a sharpie so I can’t remember what was on the list…

    This was so great.

Isn’t it just HOW IT GOES??

With me, always a day late/dollar short.

Loved this, and am featuring it on my post today, “Best of the internet this week.”

Thank you for your honesty, it’s how we all find community.

There were so many versions of Velcro sneakers, I had no idea laces would ever be mandatory! You are a better woman than I that the talk is even making an appearance on your to-do list! I hope the 15 year old here has piecedenough together (and that tenth grade fills in the blanks…or the husband does..ha!) Headed over from Good Day Regular People, and am so glad she linked to this! Add bake cookies to your
    list!

I’m visiting from Emp, and she was right – this is funny. I rip up my lists all the time. No wait. I don’t make them!

Yikes! I tried the old #6 but after some time I could see that it wasn’t happening so I had to suck it up and do the #4. Totally awkward but I wanted to hear the correct stuff. :/ My favorite part of your list? #10 – just made me smile thinking about it! 😀
