Those End of School Year Papers

June 18, 2013 By Katy 24 Comments

I have two things to share with you today regarding the ginormous bags of stuff that my children brought home at the end of the school year.

First, the bags were placed in a heap near our mudroom on the last day of school. On the very next day, my husband came home from work and said forlornly, “Gee, I was really hoping those would be taken care of by now.”

Ha ha ha ha ha!

Them’s fighting words, Pa! I can sue you for divorce over words like that and every mother in America would sport t-shirts that proclaimed “Team Experienced Bad Mom”.

Second, I did manage to pick through one bag. And I found this:

CAM00227

I’m frightened.

Truly. Frightened.

My beloved 6-year-old daughter created  “Clown Parade” artwork. And those clowns look EVIL. Like the fruits of the devil!

Seriously, that clown guy in the middle looks like it will jump out at me and go all Poltergeist.

Now, nobody tell her that her “Clown Parade” freaks me out, okay?

And, please, tell me that either 1) you haven’t cleaned up the bag of end of school year paperwork, or 2)  it took you 3 weeks to do so, or 3) you found something worse than “Clown Parade” in your bags!

Haven’t quite cleaned them out. We took all the stuff out of the bags for our Disney trip, but the pile is still sitting on the end of the couch. 🙁

Today is the last day of school for my kiddos and they only brought the bags home yesterday, so I haven’t gone through them yet. However, I did pull an old empty chocolate milk container out of my son’s “Contents of the desk” bag. I found this to particularly disgusting because… umm… well, it’s an old milk container. Why is he saving that!?!?!? Ewww. I’m afraid to really dig into the bag.

Those are scary clowns! I did go through the last day of school backpack. But if it makes you feel any better the papers are still in a pile next to the couch. 🙂 (No scary clowns though!!)

Yay for piles! I usually move from bag to pile, to sorted through pile, to please-children-forget-about-the-pile, to can-I-now-recycle-without-you-knowing.

Clown Parade! Awesome. My sister once took bowling pins, painted them black and stuck cut-put photos of body parts all over them. Body parts to represent me, my mom, and my dad. My mom got mouths bc she talks a lot, my dad, ears because I don’t remember why and I got noses because apparently she thought I picked my nose a lot – that’s what she told me. Nice.

If your sister did that as a disenchanted teen, I might be worried. Then again, if she did that as a small child, I might be really worried too!

I had to watch your photo once again to see what you meant. lol I’m the same, although I do end up getting rid of things eventually it takes me quite a while to do it. I’m not sure I ever do want to get rid of things the kids make but if I don’t my house would start looking like those on hoarders. 🙂

Hoarders. So true! I love saving some stuff, but I can’t save it all or we’d be drowning in it.

Better start saving for those therapy sessions now. Oh, and I finally got around to throwing away the Halloween candy bag little guy brought home from school back in November.
