Ultimate Blog Party 2013

Ultimate Blog Party 2013

Welcome to Experienced Bad Mom! I’m pleased to be participating in the Ultlimate Blog Party 2013 hosted by 5minutesformom.com.

My name is Katy and I was first called an “Experienced” Bad Mom by my friend after I’d had my second child. She was kidding, of course, but I loved the unintended meaning.Β  That’s because no matter how hard I try as a mom, the media, society, and neighborhood all make me feel like a bad mom. Did I breastfeed long enough? Make organic homemade baby food? Raise children who are fluent in Swahili and on the honor roll? It’s never good enough, so I might as well laugh about it!

I celebrate my imperfections and share my exploits here. My goal is to entertain and be REAL.

Thanks for reading. I welcome you to subscribe by email or follow me on Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest.

I love the blog name! I was watching a show yesterday and the grown daughter was telling her mom, “I worry that I’m going to screw my daughter up and I won’t even know what I’m doing wrong until she’s an adult and hates me for it.” I swear I feel that way sometimes! πŸ™‚ Followed you from the UBP.

I love the name of your blog and the story behind it! I just had our first daughter last November. It’s so true that it’s impossible to live up to everyone’s expectations about how to raise a child. I’m still learning to let go of others’ expectations and raise our daughter the way we believe is best.

One day I dropped by a friend’s house to give her something… Since I had my kids with me, she invited us to play for a minute… Her living room was chaos and I never felt so relieved in my life! Finally some one like me! Some one else whose toy box explodes and have kids who sneak crackers, leaving crumbs in the corner!

    Bad moms rule!

Love the blog title! Mom guilt loves to rear its ugly head, whether from media, other moms, or just mistakes we make along the way.

    Have fun at the party!

I’ve yet to meet anyone who has this parenting thing figured out. I just wish what worked one day would work the next, or what works with one child would work with the other.

We must be secret sisters. As soon as I saw the name of your blog I knew I had found a home. I’ve second-guessed myself from Day One. I just figure that I’ll start a savings account for my kids’ therapy after they leave the house and figure out how flawed I am.

Looking forward to reading more of your blogs.

      Real moms unite!

I don’t consider any of us bad. I just think no matter what we do, it’s never good enough to someone, somewhere. So let’s at least have fun!

      So glad to meet ya.

Hi! You crack me up. My friend and I were just talking the other day about how competitive a lot of moms are–like, “my kid can do 20 long division problems in 2 minutes” and the other mom says, “my kids can do 40 long division problems in one minute!” It’s crazy. I try to stay clear of those moms. I like real moms who admit their kids are not always perfect.

Oh, it’s so true! I’m only 9 months in and it’s so easy to feel like I don’t measure up. I’m learning to trust my instincts and do what we think is best, regardless of what society and social media says!

I’m following on Twitter (@Poekitten). I came by from UBP13.

So true – expectations for parenting vary so much that somebody, somewhere will say you are doing it wrong. Encouragement for moms. all the way! πŸ™‚

My sister says she is not saving for college, it’s more like therapy of bail. My parenting philosophy is give them guidance, let them make their own mistakes, keep them off the pole and out of jail. And remember that three out of four is good odds even in Vegas.

    Stopping by from #UBP13.
