A Guest Post from Scooter the Cat

July 24, 2017 By Katy 19 Comments

Hello! I’m Scooter the cat, a calico from Michigan.

If I were a toddler, I think I’d say I’m 22 months old. But I’m not toddler, silly. I’m a cat. So I’m almost 2 years old.

My mom’s busy doing summer stuff so she asked me to guest post on her blog. I’m busy, too, as you’ll see, but I decided to give it a whirl.

Here’s a look at the funny and cute stuff I do in a typical day.

I start my day by taking a big nap in my sister’s window. I love my cat bed in her sunny window.Follow Scooter the cat through a typical day. She's one funny and cute calico.

By midday I’m taking a big nap on the new sofa the family got last winter. I’m so glad they considered me and my comfort when they bought it.Follow Scooter the cat through a typical day. She's one funny and cute calico.

By afternoon I’m still napping. Hey, somebody’s got to do it!

In the late afternoon, I really come alive. Now’s the time of day when I scratch at the front door and howl. I’m desperate to go outside and eat fountain grass or watch the birds.Follow Scooter the cat through a typical day. She's one funny and cute calico.

Did I tell you they got me a leash to wear when I’m outside? Sometimes I even go for a walk around the neighborhood. It’s so exciting. And the smells! Oh,my!Follow Scooter the cat through a typical day. She's one funny and cute calico.

In the evening it’s time for grooming, playing with my toys with my family (my favorite is anything with feathers), and preparing for a good night’s sleep. After all, I’ve had a busy day so I need to unwind.

During the night, I like to sleep in the hallway so I can take turns running into the different bedrooms and randomly howling. It reminds me of when I was a kitten. Plus, it’s fun!

That’s a typical day for me. I’m one lucky Scooter the cat.

That’s all. I’m tired so I need a nap. Bye!

Aww, sounds like Scooter is living the life!
Our cat is close to the same age – he is much more of a moody teenager than a toddler though.
    Thanks for sharing. <3

All cats, like kids, have different temperaments, right? Scooter is naturally a sweetie. Good luck with your moody teen, LOL!

Scooter does have quite the life…as do most cats…I’d love to hear more about Scooters’ lease…so Scooter, do you really enjoy the lease and is it a sure thing that you can’t squirm out of it? Inquiring cat owners of very naughty kitties want to know. 🙂

      Hi Jeanne,

This is Scooter. I’m talking while Mom’s typing. (Okay maybe I’ve taken this too far…!)

Actually, Scooter doesn’t squirm out of it. You can see the kind we got in the picture. It’s part her temperament and part (maybe) the fact that she wore one as a kitten and when she grew bigger we just got the same leash harness in a bigger size. So, no surprises and she’s always worn one. But I know some of the Adventure Cats (check out http://www.adventurecats.org/backcountry-basics/train-your-cat-to-walk-on-a-leash/) prefer the halter kind. It’s more mesh and covers more of their chest. That might be an idea for you. Good luck!

Scooter, we’d never know that this is your first guest post. You are a natural! Thank you for squeezing some time in despite your busy schedule to regale us with tales (tails?) of your typical beautiful day. May I come and live with you? I think we’d be fast friends since I’m an over-the-top Cat Person and have long fingers, just right for prolonged chin rubbing, We have a lot in common, you see: our love of naps and watching birds, just to name a couple.

I will eagerly await your reply!

    Your Pal,
