A Real Letter to Santa

December 5, 2013 By Katy 19 Comments

I thought for sure that last year, when my son was in 4th grade, it would be his final year for believing in Santa. Thankfully, I was wrong. I am ecstatic that my ten-year-old son still believes in Santa. Because that means he’s still little, still innocent, and still sweet. And he believes in the magic of Christmas.

How do I know he believes? I spied his letter to Santa. I’m sharing it because it’s so NORMAL for a ten-year-old. He doesn’t ask for world peace or a new mom for his dad. He just asks for some stuff. He’ll probably get some of it, too.

Dear Santa,

I would like Florida Panthers flat bill hat, a new bike, yellow Viking Puffle plush, Florida Panthers hockey tape, giant fish pillow that I saw at Cabela’s, Florida Panthers jacket, Florida Panthers sweatshirt, Florida Panthers bedspread, Florida Panthers alarm clock, Club Penguin year membership, bag of jelly beans, kitten (make it white I want to name it Marshmallow) food dish, food, and toys, iPhone 5 (yellow), lots of Club Penguin plush, Rainbow loom, Florida Panthers foam finger for Christmas.

Thanks!

Will

If you see him, please don’t ruin the magic. I’m soaking this in for as long as I can.

And, no, we do not live anywhere near Florida and I have no idea why he’s obsessed with theย Florida Panthers!

Do you have any letters to Santa that your kids have written?

That’s pretty cute! As a 4th grade teacher, it is sad to see that many of my students doubt or at least question the existence of Santa. They get to believe for such a short time and it just seems that not believing should wait until 5th grade! ๐Ÿ™‚

I really am soaking it in this year, Justin. I know it’s only a matter of time before he will be too cool to believe. ๐Ÿ™

Big Florida Panthers fan, huh? That’s cute! My son had an obsession with Green Bay for a long time. We live no where near Wisconsin, nor have we ever been there. ๐Ÿ™‚

And my husband tells me that growing up in Maryland, he was obsessed with the Detroit Lions, which is random, too!

I had to giggle at the white cat named Marshmallow…at least he wants food, food dishes, and toys for the cat. The complete package!

I’m pretty sure Frances still believes! She’s done with Elf on the Shelf though. That’s a great list he wrote!

I know, Chris, I know! Let’s hang on and enjoy their innocence. I am afraid that middle school next year will crush that. Boo! ๐Ÿ™

Is he going to get the kitten? I can’t wait for my daughter to start making lists! Shopping will be a lot easier.

We have a lovely older cat right now (he’s 16). Not only is he old, but he’s blind, so it would just be too hard to bring a new cat in right now. But that doesn’t stop my son from asking! One day. One day.

I believed until 6th grade (and only stopped then because our teacher had us write reply letters to the 1st graders letters to santa, saying “Im sure by now you all know santa isnt real…”) and am so glad, I hope your son holds on too!

I love how specific his request for a white cat named Marshmallow is. That is absolutely adorable. Sounds like mom and dad just need to redo his bedroom in Florida for Christmas! I’m redoing my son’s room for Christmas. He’s getting a big boy room : )

Dad, who’s a hockey guy himself, will help Santa pick out the right Florida Panthers gear for sure. Good luck with the big boy room! ๐Ÿ™‚
