Handy Items You Need To Carry At Disney World

April 2, 2018 By Katy 15 Comments

As someone who has walked thousands of miles through Disney World, and lived to tell the tale, I have some advice:  There are definitely some handy items you need to carry at Disney World.

Sure, you might be able to buy some of these at the parks. Or, sure, you may be able to live without some of these if you must.

But, if you have any inkling to plan ahead, and any desire for maximum comfort while traipsing through the parks, then bring these handy items with you in your purse or backpack.

Check out these handy items you need to carry at Disney World. You'll be happy you brought these along on your visit to the Happiest Place on Earth!

Gum or mints

Did you know that you cannot buy gum anywhere at Disney World? This is because at the Happiest Place on Earth they don’t want to spend all day scraping up gum or, worse, having guests step in it.

So bring some gum or mints if you want fresh breath. I like to chew a piece after devouring a sweet Disney treat after all.A sweet Disney World treat: the fruit and hazelnut spread waffle sandwich from Sleepy Hollow

Wet Ones

I like Wet Ones over hand sanitizer for several reasons. One, you don’t have to worry about taking the wipes out of your purse to go through airport security. Two, Wet Ones can be used to wipe down a table at a restaurant or cafe before your hot, tired, cranky family sits down and in case a Disney Cast Member hasn’t gotten there yet to clean the table. Finally, I like to clean my hands with a wipe after devouring a sweet Disney treat.

Yes, I mentioned sweet Disney treats again. Mmmm!A sweet Disney World treat? The Beauty and the Beast Belle cupcake. Mmmm!

Dollar store ponchos

My husband and teenage son don’t care if they get wet on the rides.

But, I don’t want to spend hours in the park waiting for a big wet spot on my pants to dry after I got sloshed with a wave of water on Splash Mountain or Kali River Rapids.

I also don’t want to spend big bucks on buying a poncho at the park.

Therefore, I pick up cheap and cheerful Dollar store ponchos that stow easily in my purse.

A granola bar or other quick snack

Sometimes it is much more convenient to eat a granola bar than walk to a concession stand, wait in line in a concession stand, and then pay big bucks at the concession stand for a snack.

Although have I mentioned they have sweet Disney treats?!An ice cream sandwich from Disney's Boardwalk Resort. Mmm! Heavenly ice cream sandwiched between two cookies and rolled in a topping of your choice (chocolate chips here).

A granola bar or bag of crackers can satisfy a hangry toddler–or adult–while waiting in line for a ride or in the hour before your next meal reservation when you really don’t want to stop.

Water bottle

Bring a refillable water bottle and sip, refill, and sip some more all day.

Sunscreen

As the day goes by, I swear I see people get redder and redder. Especially the ones wearing tank tops and no hat.

Take it from this skin cancer survivor: wear your sunscreen! And, bring your own into the park so you can reapply liberally.

Also, by not spending your money on sunscreen inside the parks, you will have more money to buy a sweet Disney treat!Try a Disney World Rose Gold Cupcake for your next sweet treat at Disney!

So, besides your wallet and a sense of humor and adventure, don’t leave your hotel room without these handy items you need to carry at Disney World.

And after all those sweet Disney treats, make sure you have some Pepto in the hotel room.

I live in England and can only dream of treating my kids to a trip to Disney World.
But when I do eventually make it, I’ll be sure to remember this list……
    Great post!

These are great ideas! Amusement parks are fun,but also require a certain amount of endurance, so these items make it easier to survive!

Yes! I’m all about covering my bases to try and last as long as possible in the park.

Excellent list! Fortunately, all of those things fit nicely into the diaper bags that my kids carry so we are covered! Question: No Micky ears Rice Krispie treat? Dipped in chocolate and sprinkles?

We did Disney last month, and the only thing I didn’t have from your list was a poncho. It would have been nice, but we only went on one “get wet” ride .I will say, though, the water in Florida is not quite as nice tasting as our water at home so we did have to buy some water for my picker water-drinking family members.

The warmer it is, the less likely I am to use the poncho. But it was still cold enough at night when we went that I wanted to wear it vs. walk around with a wet butt, LOL!
