Ho Ho Ho! I am published in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Tales of Christmas

November 9, 2024 By Katy 2 Comments

I’ve got some exciting news.

I’m in a book!

Yes, dear readers, I’m happy to announce that my story, “How A Combine Havester Saved Our Christmas Tree” was selected as one of the 101 stories included in the book Chicken Soup for the Soul: Tales of Christmas.

I’m here to tell you that these 101 stories are real-life, personal stories full of warmth and cheer, perfect for the holiday season. And, because some of the stories feature Thanksgiving escapades, you can dive in right now and enjoy!

My own story took place nine years ago when my daughter and I visited a Christmas tree lot. We were full of confidence and optimism that the two of us could bring home the family Christmas tree.

Girl power and all that.

Turns out I woefully underestimated our abilitities. That’s because I could only kinda, sorta tie the tree to our roof rack in the freezing cold with the slippery **plastic** twine (aka totally ineffective slithery string) that was available at the Christmas tree lot. Nor did I get any help from the Christmas tree sales guy who told me he couldn’t assist me due to “liability issues”.

Our festive fir probably would’ve fallen off had it not been for a miraculous piece of farm equipment intervening.

You’ll have to buy the book to read the full story. Which you can do on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or find a copy at your favorite local bookstore.

Or perhaps cozy up to me, tell me I’m pretty and funny, and maybe I’ll give you one of the ten free copies I received for having a story in the book.

You know about the Chicken Soup for the Soul books, right? RIGHT? I only ask because the 24-year-old coworker that I told my exciting news to said she’d never heard of the books. Which made me laugh–and maybe cry a little bit.

Never fear, one of the perks of being in the book is meeting the other writers and the publishers and banding together to promote it. So hang on to your Santa hats and grab a cup of cheer as you watch me promote this lovely book throughout the holiday season.

It makes a great hostess gift for any holiday parties you may attend. Or give it to your coworkers, friends, mom, grandma and others. Unless they’re 24 years old and living in a Tik Tok world I bet they’ll love it.

Have you read a Chicken Soup for the Soul book? Or do you have any fond memories of getting your Christmas tree? Do tell!
