To my friends, dear readers, and fellow “bad moms”
Last year, I shared my excitement about being published in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Tales of Christmas. My story, “How a Combine Harvester Saved Our Christmas Tree”, made it into an honest-to-goodness book!
I was happy and excited and shared the good news in my post here: Ho Ho Ho! I Am in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Tales of Christmas.

BUT I was also busy last year with everything BESIDES promoting the book.
Yup, last November when I wanted to share my good news far and wide, give away a copy, and bask in the excitement, this little thing called life happened.
- My son threw out his shoulder in a hockey game (he’s fine now, thankfully.)
- I hosted Thanksgviing (okay, okay, so I bought the meal from the local grocery store but I still had to clean my house for houseguests, reheat everything, and clean it up with a smile on my face.)
- I had a once-in-a-blue-moon business trip across country in early December.
- Plus, two of the four members of my family celebrate birthdays in December.
In other words, I was barely functioning during the most wonderful time of the year.
All of this is to explain why I’m just now able to spread a little holiday cheer by giving one lucky reader their very own copy of this heartwarming collection!

Good luck, everyone! I can’t wait to read your comments.
And may your days be merry, bright, and full of miracles like the one that happened to me with the combine harvester (see, you gotta read it in the book to believe it!)

I have many great Christmas memories touring with Nebraska Theater Caravan’s show “A Christmas Carol” many years ago. I played clarinet in the small pit orchestra on their West Coast, Midwest and East Coast tours in different years. Loved it!
I love participating in live theater–it must have been even more special to do so during the holidays!
It was amazing! The show was great, and you feel like a family after touring together for 6 weeks.
I’m thrilled for you, Katy. Huge congrats on the Chicken Soup front! Combine harvester? Now there’s a story. I know I’m not eligible being a Canuck and responding after the deadline but I will seek it out.
Happy Birthday to you, too!
