Mom, you look like…

July 2, 2014 By Katy 16 Comments

Has anyone ever told you that you look like a celebrity?

Every now and then, someone tells me I look like Princess Di.

I’ll take it!

Of course, every now and then someone tells me I look like Alice from the Brady Bunch.

Hmm.

But the other day my seven-year-old daughter told me I looked like a Disney Princess!

Wow!

But there was a catch.

Here’s how the conversation went:

7yo: “Mom, you look like Rapunzel…”

Me {thinking}:Wow! Rapunzel’s beautiful! I’m so flattered. I mean, I know I have blonde hair and green eyes like Rapunzel, but it’s amazing that my daughter thinks I look just like her. What a compliment! How sweet that she thinks I look like a Disney princess!”

7yo: “…after Flynn cuts her hair.”

Ha!

Er, thanks?!?

YoulooklikeRapunzel2

Now it’s your turn. What celebrity or Disney Princess do you look like?

Well I think she looked prettier after the “haircut” 😉

Thank you, Jhanis! I love it that Disney kept her hair that way after the cut and never tried to glam it up.

The kids I used to babysit in high school always told me I looked like Christina Ricci in Casper. I don’t think I look anything like her now, but maybe there was slight resemblance at one point.

Cristina Ricca is pretty and I think we’ve swapped information before that you are petite while I am giraffe-like. 🙂 Height definitely adds to the whole who-do-you-resemble thing. I don’t think I’d get Princess Di unless I was as tall as she was.

I think she looks stunning after her hair cut. 😉 One time I was told I look like Reece Witherspoon, but that’s about it.

Why thank you, Katie! Reese Witherspoon is gorgeous. Short, I think (says the tall girl)!

Absolutely beaming over the Di versus Alice comparisons. Oh my god yes – I can see both! So funny. From my 5 foot 2″ vantage point let me tell you I am more than jealous about your giraffe reference. The worst part was getting in the mix when my kids were in grade 7/grade 8 land. EVERYONE was taller. I refused to stand with them outsde in the schoolyard because all the girls had long hair and they’d whip it into my eyes… What? I’m off topic? Sorry. Let’s see – a pal recently told me I am looking more and more like Glenn Close. Hopefully not in her Fatal Attraction days. I don’t see it though. When I was younger a friend pointed out I looked like Granny Goodwitch from the Post Sugar Crisp commercials. Absolutely didn’t see it then but now maybe I do …

Your comments always make me laugh! “Hopefully not in her Fatal Attraction days,” – hee hee! My 10yo is now 5’1″ and entering 6th grade. He definitely would have been the kid you didn’t want to stand next to in 7/8th grade land. 🙂

We have a friend who when he was younger looked a lot like Michael J Fox…he kind of still does. I don’t think I have any resemblance to a celebrity. 🙂

Hmm. Now you’ve got me thinking about your resemblance! Something will come to me, I just know it. 🙂

I do see the Princess Di resemblence.

I have never liked any of the famous comparisons I got. For some reason, I got Lea Thompson a lot. That might have been okay if I went to high school in the 80s, but I graduated in 2001. I did not take that as a compliment.

Also in high school, I got the daughter from American Beauty…you know, the one who was convinced she was completely ugly.

My little brother told my mom she looked like a manatee one day while we were swimming in a hotel pool. We had just gone to a manatee rescue and learned that manatees were often mistaken for mermaids so he was trying to compliment her, but being told she resembled an animal whose nickname is ‘sea cow’ didn’t exactly garner the reaction he anticipated.
