New Year’s Eve
New Year’s Eve always sounds way more exciting in theory than it ends up being in reality, especially for those of us over the age of 25 (ahem).
Let’s be honest about how this night really goes.
Nope, we’re not ringing in the New Year at a rock concert, jumping, dancing, and singing along at the top of our lungs. We’re also definitely not squeezing into a crowded bar, shouting conversations over loud music, or attending a fancy ticketed soirée where you have to dress up and pretend to be having a good time while your feet are killing you in those heels.
Instead, we’ll be celebrating the New Year in true grown-up style.
That’s right we’ll be comfortably settled in our living rooms, probably in our pajamas, ready to celebrate when the clock strikes midnight.

And by “ready to celebrate,” I really mean falling asleep by around 10 p.m., maybe 10:30 if we’re feeling wild!

The couch has never looked more inviting than on New Year’s Eve, and honestly, that’s totally fine by me.
New Year, New You
Then comes the next challenge: New Year’s resolutions.
After we recover from such a “wild” New Year’s Eve, we’re suddenly expected to wake up and reinvent ourselves with New Year’s resolutions.
Eat less, exercise more, ya da ya da ya da.
To those who genuinely commit to making New Year’s resolutions, I wish you nothing but success.
Yup, may you succeed…at least until January 2.

Of course, some of you ambitious, determined souls might push through even longer.
Like until January 4…

Then there’s me.
I don’t even bother making New Year’s resolutions. I know myself well enough to understand that I’m probably not going to change dramatically just because the calendar flips over. So I don’t bother making resolutions I won’t keep.

In fact, I embrace who I already am, always and forever the “Experienced Bad Mom”! And that’s why my favorite New Year meme is the one that celebrates all of you like me who stay exactly the same—fabulous, flaws and all.

So, dear readers, I hope you remember this as the new year begins: you are already awesome just the way you are. Whether you make resolutions or not, whether you stay up until midnight or fall asleep early, you’re doing just fine.
May your awesomeness carry on into the New Year and beyond.
Thanks for reading, and happy New Year! 🎉

Just the nudge I needed. Bless ya. Now, if you could offer up some prayers (and some Gravol) for this nasty bug to vanish and restore me to good health, I promise to honor your kind words and soak up my awesomeness. Thank you. You’re awesome, Katy.
