Things I’ve Stepped On Since I’ve Had Kids

May 13, 2014 By Katy 28 Comments

Huh.

That was a new one.

I looked down at my feet and the object upon which I’d just stepped. It was a plastic cup. And not a drinking cup, but a protective cup from my ten-year-old’s baseball shorts. Now how did THAT get on the living room floor?

It could be the strangest thing I’d ever stepped on. But then again, since I’ve had kids, I’ve stepped on things I didn’t even know existed before! Here’s a quick list of things I’ve stepped on:

  1. Protective Cup
  2. Sippy cup
  3. Bouncy balls
  4. Legos
  5. Barbies
  6. Bakugans
  7. Beyblades
  8. Hot Wheels cars
  9. Magic Treehouse book
  10. My Little Ponies
  11. Bowling pin
  12. Assorted action figures
  13. Tiara
  14. Comb
  15. Rocks
  16. Sticks
  17. Pretzels
  18. Cheerios
  19. Goldfish
  20. DSi cartridges
  21. An old iPhone
  22. Hockey puck
  23. Hockey stick
  24. Pez dispenser
  25. Money

Now what about you? What things have your kids left on the floor that you’ve stepped on?

HA! What a clever post idea! My son loves to play with ping pong balls; I can’t count the number of times I’ve stepped on them when he’s been rolling them underfoot!

That sounds dangerous! I’d probably fall on my butt after stepping on a ping pong ball. 🙂

I’ve stepped on a lot of those things too.

Plus a Twinkie. That felt gross.

Legos are the worst! Actually dog throw up or poop might be worse. I have done that too. Today my house was covered in feathers and I had to clean up bird crap, thank you cats. Thank goodness I didn’t step in it, but some days I think the cats and dogs are as bad as the kids with the mess.

One day I bent down to pick up a Lego off the floor and it turned out to be a kitty turd. Good times!

Hahaha! He’ll be embarrassed of that someday…or maybe not. 😉 I’m not looking forward to Legos or Barbie shoes but I know they’ll be unavoidable! 😉

Ha! My son would not be embarrassed. Yet. And maybe never. He’s got a pretty carefree temperament, for better or worse!

Yes to all of the above except bakugan. Have to go and google that. So glad you stopped by earlier and commented from The Dose Girls post. Lovely to meet another person who “gets it.” Yes, in addition to the things you step on there are the things your darlings bring you. While we were out for a walk my son at three dashed over to show me his “furry mouse car!” Sadly not. It was mouldy dog poop. Just delightful.

Okay, I giggled at moldy dog poop. Mostly because that one happened to you and not me. Thanks for stopping by & commenting!

The worst has been earrings (hurts worse than LEGO) and something wet (which ranges from pee to vomit to the unknown).

Something wet. Unknown. Yikes. Come to think of it, I believe I have stepped in something wet and unknown, too!

I love this! I’ve stepped on a lot of strange things too, but Lego definitely hurt the most!

hahaha. I have stepped on all kinds of food, water, toys, my daughter’s foot, vomit, probably more. Every time someone mentions stepping on a Lego, it makes me laugh. I have many memories of that from childhood and I’m sure many to come when my daughter is older.

Any of us with kids or pets have stepped in vomit – yuck is all I can say! And how does that happen anyway? It’s just a danger of our profession I believe – ha!

Ouch to all of the above! I’ve definitely stepped on a fair amount of lego. Though one time I stepped on a post earring and it actually went into my foot… I might say that was even less fun than legos. Hilarious post though! Kids really do leave stuff everywhere!

I just found your blog. Hilarious! Having 5 kids, I won’t go into all I’ve stepped on, but a dead mouse under the playroom rug is the tops. I still get the willies!

I know, right? And we have a 2-story house so it’s even harder for a cup to end up on the first floor when the dirty clothes basket is in his room on the second floor!

I’d like to say that every time I change a wet diaper it makes it into the diaper pail/ garbage… but it doesn’t. So sometimes, usually at night, I step on the last wet diaper in the dark. UGH! The worse part is it’s my fault!

Besides disgusting bodily excretions, legos and puzzle pieces (the toddler kind with the little knobs on them) have almost permanently cripples me! Thanks for the laughs.

LOL! This is such a mom post! LOVE IT! 🙂 I’ve stepped on a chunk of banana on the living room floor, smooching it into the carpet. That was not beautiful.
