Why I Love Twitter

About a year ago I took a blogging class that extolled the virtues of having a Twitter account and Facebook page for your blog. So, being a good rule follower, I signed up for both. And watched in horror as I had barely any Twitter followers and only a handful of Facebook likes. For a long time.

But then I got over my embarrassment and just let it be. Slowly but surely, I got a few more “likes”, but not much was happening on Twitter. Until December when I got a smartphone. (Yes, I know that 99% of you probably had a smartphone since the dawn of time, but I’m married to Captain Frugal, who is really the only person whom I talk to on my cell, and we waited until my old phone died.)

With my Smartphone, it’s easy to check Twitter, send tweets, follow people, and be followed back. I’m having a good time tweeting and replying to tweets that people send out into the Twitter-verse.

And then there was this week, which just proves that anyone can have fun on Twitter. Because I’m nobody special, yet Twitter made me feel all warm and fuzzy.

First, I mentioned the Berenstain Bears in a tweet.

They replied!

@experbadmom Thank you!

— Berenstain Bears (@TheBerenstains) March 6, 2013

Then, I tweeted Ladies’ Home Journal about a Haiti blog post.

They replied!

@experbadmom @crocs Thanks so much for helping us spread the word, Katy! Loved your post.

— Ladies’ Home Journal (@LHJmagazine) March 8, 2013

Finally, I tweeted Bryan Adams, my most loved rock star of all time, yes, he of Summer of ’69 fame, and he replied!

@experbadmom thanks v much, glad the music helped!

If you’re not on Twitter, go for it.

Now, if somebody would only help me with Pinterest, Instagram, and Google+…

What’s your Twitter handle? Please share so we can all follow. 🙂 I’m @experbadmom.

If I had more time, I’d switch to one of those fancy commenting widgets that allows you to put your website AND your Twitter handle in your reply. If anyone knows the name of that widget, pls share!

Way cool! I once tweeted Mila Kunis and she retweeted me. But then I found out the account might not be the official Mila Kunis. Bummed.

Well, I fully realize that I may have been tweeted by 3 different 18-year-old interns rather than the real Berenstain Bears (!), Ladies Home Journal, and Bryan Adams. But I’m still cool with that! 🙂

That is so cool about Bryan Adams! I have a twitter account but need to be more active on it. No FB page as yet, I barely have time to blog let alone all other shenanigans. P.S I love my smart phone too.
